Went to pr St at 2:10. At post 5 minntes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Linden 
Ella rsn one cf her best races going into the lead at flag fall and remaining there to the end, bnt 
she bad to be driven ont to the limit to ontlive W. B. Gates. The latter finished fast and strong- 
ly tbrongb the last eighth. He swerved badly as nsnal toward the inside rail wnen opposite the 
paddock gate, throwing Miss Liza off her stride. Strangest was the victim of a poor ride and 
was ridden all over the stretch. Miss Liza ran a surprisingly good race and was right there np 
to within fifty yards of the wire. Ben Chance had enough when a fnrlong ont. Chancery showed 
early speed.

Went to post at 2:35. Off at first break to a poor start. Won easily; second the same. C. B. 
Campbell liked the going and ran like a scared deer. He ran Merriment to defeat in the first 
half mile and then csme away with esse, winning as hie rider pleased. Merriment was the best 
of the others. She tired badly in the last eighth. Tom Kingsley ran in much improved form. 
He made up much ground in the final half, finishing strongly. Searcher, badly outrun in the 
first part of the race, closed np considerable ground in the last half. Lennep had enough after 
a half mile had been run.

immediately dashed to the front at fidg drop and spreadeagled his field. Tammany Chief under 
a poor ride closed np fast in the last eighth, getting second place on hie owm courage. Valdez 
finished fast and would have been second in a stride or two. Basselas had enough just before 
entering the last quarter.

driving. Lord Roberts under punishment weaved his way tbrongb his field from far back and 
getting clear sailing at the head of the stretch came home fast and strongly and was gradually 
going away at the end. Evelyn Byrd showed great gamenees throngh the last quarter and alto- 
gether ran an excellent race. Cathedral came with a rush near the inside rail in the last eighth 
as did also Moroni. Ecome was tiring when the pinch came. St. Wood swung wide at the head 
of the stretch, losing ground. J. H. Barnes had enough when a quarter ont. Segnranca tired in 
the last eighth.

to the front under mUd urging and he remained there to the end. Jessie Jarboe ran well for 
seven fnr'cngs and then began to tire. Mac Gyle appeared to labor in the slow going and hardly 
ran to bis bast form.

Gallantry simply played with her field and the result was never in doubt. Stella Perkins was

Bill is again in good form. He trailed for the first mUe and then under a strong ride moved up 
fast and finished strongly. Salesman ran in remarkably improved form and was probably beet, 
bnt was used np in making the pace with Dr. Eichberg. The latter failed badly at the end. 
Sifter ran a very fair race and should win before long. Boisterous and Linstock both showed 
well for tbe first mile bnt were evidently short.

thrift far outclassed the field on hie showing today. Nearly left and compelled to mu on the 
outside of the entire field he finished like a stake colt. Grail ran a speedy and game race and 
handled her weight well. Setanket finished with a rare burst of epe^. Cervera beat the gate 
and had all tbe best of it bnt was caught and ontgamed by the two-year-olds in the last sixteenth. 
The cnppT going probably may have tired him. The others were beaten off.

closed up stontly in the stretch mn. Found ran a bad race. Wax Taper was closing up under a 
hard drive when he overstrode himself, caught bis off fore plate with his hind foot and threw 
himself. He was severely wrenched but not otherwise hurt. Though going well at the time ha 
could scarcely have won.
